Niagara, ON (February 26, 2010) - A heartfelt thanks to Scotiabank for its generous $200,000 donation towards the development of the Niagara Regional Mental Health Centre, currently under construction at First Street and Fourth Avenue in St. Catharines as part of the new Niagara Health System Health-care Complex.

“I applaud Scotiabank for its leadership in making this commitment to our new Mental Health Centre,” said North Niagara Campaign co-chair Jan Cook. “Through this donation, Scotiabank is helping to make an important and lasting improvement to the delivery of mental health-care services for Niagara patients.”

The new Regional Mental Health Centre will provide specialized, longer-term inpatient mental health treatment, as well as acute-care beds and more intensive and diversified outpatient services.  This new facility will provide a physical environment that creates a safe and healing space enabling patients who are now treated outside the region to receive care here at home in Niagara.

“We are very pleased that we are assisting with this very worthwhile and much needed project. It is very exciting to see the new regional hospital now under construction” said Dave Curphey, Scotiabank Community Manager.
