SCBC donates to Campaign

Niagara, ON (July 23, 2011) – The excitement shared by members of the St. Catharines Business Club for milestone changes coming to healthcare in Niagara has translated into donations that have now totalled almost $120,000 to the It’s Our Time Campaign. The gift supports the NHS new health-care complex and Walker Family Cancer Centre, currently 65% complete.

The St. Catharines Business Club was founded in 1956 by ten visionary entrepreneurs wishing to network with other businesses in the area. Today, the Club boasts a membership of over 80 members who take pride in maintaining a tradition of excellence in the business community, while never losing sight of the support that the community at large has given each member.

“Donating to this Campaign provides an opportunity to give back to our community, which has supported the growth and success of our businesses,” says Tony Flus, St. Catharines Business Club member. “Although we are not a service club, our members all appreciate how momentous a project this is for our community and decided to make a joint-effort contribution. As well as being vital to the health and well-being of our residents, this new facility is a critical component of our Niagara infrastructure and will play an important role in the economic life of our region.”

In recognition of this generous gift, the Prep/Recovery Area in the Paediatrics Department of the new health-care complex will be named in honour of the Club.
