The Ontario Paper Thorold Foundation donates $100,000 to support the new St. Catharines hospital

Niagara, ON (July 30, 2011) – Members of The Ontario Paper Thorold Foundation visited the site of the Niagara Health System health-care complex and Walker Family Cancer Centre to announce a $100,000 donation to the It’s Our Time Campaign.

This generous gift will support the new acute care community hospital under construction as part of the health-care complex, which is currently 65% complete. The hospital will serve residents of St. Catharines, Thorold, Niagara-on-the-Lake and surrounding areas, replacing the aging St. Catharines General Hospital and Ontario Street Sites of the Niagara Health System.

The Ontario Paper Thorold Foundation was incorporated in 1958 by The Ontario Paper Company. Today, it seeks to contribute to the growth and maintenance of a healthy economic, educational, social, and environmental climate in Niagara by giving funds to a wide range of charitable organizations in the region.

“The Ontario Paper Thorold Foundation has for many years supported the development of the Niagara area,” says Adrian Barnet, President. “The Foundation is proud to continue our tradition by making this donation to the new hospital, which will play an important role in ensuring that the Niagara region continues to be a desirable place to work and live.”

In recognition of this generous donation, the waiting area of the Renal Clinic in the Diabetes Centre at the new health-care complex will be named in honour of the Foundation.
