OARA Donation Supports Niagara Kidney Disease Patients

OARA donates to Campaign

Wally Dingman, Chairman of the OARA Board (far left) presents a donation to Jim Garrett, Co-chair of the Niagara-on-the-Lake It’s Our Time Campaign Team (far right).  Kim Craitor, Niagara Falls MPP (middle left) and Gary Burroughs, Niagara Regional Chair (middle right) came out to the construction site of the new NHS health-care complex to show their support.

Niagara, ON (January 22, 2011) – Through its recent donation of $50,000 to the It’s Our Time Campaign, the Ontario Automotive Recyclers Association (OARA) became another community partner dedicated to advancing healthcare in the Niagara Region.

OARA’s generous gift is supporting the future dialysis centre at the Niagara Health System health-care complex and Walker Family Cancer Centre opening to patients in 2013.  The facility will serve as the hub for regional specialized kidney services, supported by the dialysis centre in Welland and the one planned for Niagara Falls.

“Our organization is committed to making a difference in communities throughout Ontario,” says Wally Dingman, Chairman of the OARA Board and General Manager of Caughill Auto Wreckers.  “My family has been touched by kidney disease so I am very proud to support the new dialysis unit in St. Catharines that will provide care to local patients, such as our family and friends.”

Donations to numerous charities are being made as part of OARA’s “Celebration of Auto Recycling” Campaign.  Members are giving $35 for every vehicle they acquire through the Retire Your Ride recycling program - an initiative aimed at getting 50,000 high-polluting vehicles off the road by March 31st, 2011.

Thank you OARA for contributing to a greener and healthier community!
