It’s Our Time Campaign steams ahead ... with support from the Glynn Family and Maid of the Mist Steamboat Company Ltd.

Niagara, ON (September 10, 2010) - The Greater Niagara General Hospital Foundation announced today that the Glynn family, owners of the Maid of the Mist Steamboat Company Ltd., have committed $250,000 to the It’s Our Time Campaign.  The campaign is raising $40 million to fund renovations and equipment at existing sites of the Niagara Health System, and new facilities and equipment to enhance regional services related to the four leading chronic diseases in Niagara - cancer, cardiac, chronic kidney and mental health diseases.  The Glynn Family’s donation is being used to help purchase medical equipment at the Greater Niagara General Site of the NHS.

Since the Glynn family acquired the Maid of the Mist Steamboat Company in 1971, the family has steadily invested in growth and innovation of the world-famous attraction, helping to attract millions of tourists from across North American and around the world to the Niagara region every year, significantly benefiting the local economy. 

Throughout this time, the Glynns have generously shared this prosperity with the Niagara Falls community, in particular, causes related to healthcare in Niagara.  Today’s $250,000 commitment to the Campaign brings the family’s support for the Greater Niagara General site of the NHS to $850,000.

“The Glynn Family’s tradition of generous support for healthcare in our community is outstanding,” says Michael Somerville, Greater Niagara General Hospital Foundation Executive Director and Campaign Director for Niagara Falls.  “Their commitment contributes significantly to providing a standard of generous support for others to follow.”

Michael adds, “Their generosity helps virtually every family in the Greater Niagara region – and not just in a tangential or minor way – but in the most important way possible: by saving lives and preventing serious health crises.”
